The 2018/19 Shirt News
Next season's shirts have been designed
Another day, another lunch… It’s a hard life!
Yesterday I was back at Puma Nordic HQ where my friend who works for Puma showed me the agreed designs for Crystal Palace’s home and away shirts for the 2018/19 season.
Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to take photographs of the designs and I didn’t see a physical shirt, just the 3D models on a computer but take it from me, they are probably the best combination of home and away shirts we’ve had since the mid-eighties!
But naturally, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
The home shirt is a classic red and blue striped shirt but with a difference. As the red striped go towards the shorts they fade to blue so as to fade into the shorts, which are also blue.
All I need to say is the white sash is back! No further description is needed, it is a classic white sash kit with red stripe along the shoulder, reminiscent of the Admiral kit of 1979!
There has been talk of a possible 3rd kit for if it is deemed the home and away shirts clash with opposition, for example Brighton, as the home kit is dominantly blue and the away is dominantly white.
So, there might be a yellow 3rd kit for such a situation.
All I can say is the kits look beautiful and it only leave me to hope that it doesn’t get ruined by a terrible sponsor logo, which I think it will because our current sponsor has a year left to run on their deal.
That will probably mean it will be a tough choice for me because I refuse to buy a shirt featuring a betting logo, especially one that looks like an advert for man love… Not that there’s anything wrong with that, if that is your thing.
