Who Might Be Leaving Palace In The Summer?

Which players have a contract for next season?

Crystal Palace has mathematically secured their Premier League status for a 6th season so I thought it would be a good time to take stock of who we have under contract for next season and who might be flying the nest.

The above players are senior players (age 22 or over) or junior players (age 21 or under) who have been part of the first team matchday squad.

Players marked in purple will have their contract with the club will expire in the summer.
Players marked in blue will possibly have their contract expire in the summer.

It goes without saying that not all players who have expiring contracts will leave the club, though the 3 players on loan will leave. Other players, I think should not be renewed as they are not up to the standard required even to be a squad player.

As I have said before, letting a player’s contract expire still presents the club with a financial burden because that player will have to be replaced unless we have development players waiting to come through, which we probably don’t, least not in sufficient numbers. In any case, development players should be there to supplement the 25 man squad not be it.

I for one will be interested how this summer pans out after the disaster that was last summer and though I expect Roy to not be in charge of the team at the start of next season, I hope I am proved wrong and we can have some form of stability and forward planning to take the club forward.
